Forgetting vs forgiving
Today, I was watching an episode of Sex and the City and the topic was - "Can you ever really forgive if you can't forget?" and that led me thinking: is that true? Do we need to forget in order to forgive? Or do we usually forgive to forget! Something to ponder about...There have been a lot of instances in my life (and am sure in lot of othere people's lives too) where we let go of things because we want to get over them - I forgave people in my life just because I wanted to let go of them for good. I think when you forgive someone you do more good to yourself than to the one who is at the recieving end. Not only does it make you seem like a bigger person, but it also returns your sleep and peace of mind. Why am I writing this? because i am intrigued - it brought back a lot of bad memories and made me think if what I did was right. Was I a coward to forgive and not take 'revenge' on people and hurt them the way they had hurt me? Maybe! I don't really reflect upon things, o hell but I am doing it today. Ok, so here is my take on this - am a forgetful person by nature - ha! good for me, isn't it? Jokes apart, I think it just made me a stronger person. Moreover, some people have bestowed that favor on me.. so wasn't it time that I repaid?
